History/Background; Like so many young men of the time, Sakamoto went to war against the Amanto, or aliens, when they invaded Earth. This was towards the end, but the most gruesome and dangerous part. He was part of the same squad as Gintoki, Katsura, and Takasugi. However his stay in the war was short. Because not to long in to it, Sakamoto had decided that he wasn't cut out for a life that would amount to nothing after the war was done and over with. He had bigger plans, he would travel the stars, and instead of choosing sides, stay on the more neutral side of things. To sum the rest of it up, his decision was basically a classic, 'lover not a fighter' scenario. Gintoki was actually the only one that really ever listened to his ramblings, a day or two after opening up to him about his plans and feelings, he left.

Disappearing for a few years, holding true to his beliefs and dreams, Sakamoto finally worked his way up to become part of one of the biggest business fleets in the galaxy, otherwise called the Kaientai. The Kaientai however has a tenancy to be the middle man in criminal and terrorist activity, even though Sakamoto himself tries not to be a criminal himself, there is still some within that do just that. But regardless, that hasn't damaged his own reputation that much.

He resurfaced in Gintoki's life abruptly after Sadaharu, the Yorozuya mascot and pet of Kagura singled him out of a crowed at the airport. With the giant dog still attached to his head, he stumbled off. Then reappearing and knocking out a few hijackers with a door on the very same ship that Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura were on. Since the hijackers had already taken out the captains of the ship, Gintoki dragged Sakamoto there literally by his hair. This was when he remembered, this man, he had fought with him in the war....and his name was KINTOKI! That mixup made Gintoki open the control room door with his face.

While in the control room, he was far too drunk to even pilot the ship properly. Instead, he tried to steer the ship with one of the poor, out cold/dead pilot's legs. It's safe to say that didn't work. Neither did tripping and accidentally pulling off the helm during a three-way tug of war with Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura. This made them crash land on a desert planet. Long story short, the crash had woken up a alien monster of the planet, Sakamoto would later sacrifice himself so his fleet, that he called to rescue everyone, could excape. This lead to a daring rescue by Gintoki who pulled him out of the sea of sand. Since then he has popped up every now and then. On a visit to see his dear friend, he accidentally crashed his pod into Gintoki and Kagura's apartment, completely destroying it. Later to make up for this he sent some aliens to fix it for them, against the hopes and thoughts of the Yorozuya.

Personality; To put it simply, Sakamoto is an airhead who likes everything that has to do with technology and travel. He can barely even remember Gintoki's name, however he seems to think that it's also bad manners to forget someones name. But when he's not being a total space cadet, he quickly takes charge in any situation and is ready to sacrifice himself to save others. He also has pretty good skills with a gun. However, after these burst of seriousness are done, he reverts back to his normal ditzy state. Sakamoto often too straight forward when it comes to hitting on women. Before he can basically glomp them, he gets a quick "NO THANK YOU" and a swift knee to the crotch in return. Needless to say, for most women, he's on their bad side. Namely Mutsu, his second in command who has never forgiven him for whatever he did, and O-ryo, a girl who works at the same snack shop as Otae, who usually has to defend herself against him every time he come in.
